Plane makes emergency landing in Thunder Bay due to unruly passenger

Police say a man faces several charges after his unruly behavior forced a plane to make an emergency landing in Thunder Bay.

The Swoop Airlines flight from Edmonton, Alberta, to Hamilton, Ontario, made the emergency landing at Thunder Bay International Airport just before 9:30 p.m. on Sunday. Officers from the Thunder Bay Police Service responded and took the man into custody.

According to a police news release, the 47-year-old man from Hamilton interfered with the flight crew, swearing and insulting them, after they found evidence that the man had been smoking in the lavoratory.

The flight continued on its way after the man was taken into custody.
