As beach season approaches, an update about the clean up efforts on Park Point. The city and other partners like the Army Corp and MPCA hosted a meeting on Wednesday.

Within the month, the Corp will begin the survey of the dredged material.  Some old and shredded aluminum cans were inadvertently placed on the beach with dredged material last year. And the survey will help them find all of it. They expect this will take about two weeks.

The goal is to get that cleaned up, and then begin the second phase of beach nourishment.

Melissa Bosman, project manager for the Corp, said this time it will start around the 9th and 10th Street area, and extend to the S-curve. The plan is to start in mid-July and finish up in September.

The public will be asked to stay away from the area, and the beach will be restricted during the work.
