Volunteers at the Mount of Olives Baptist Church in Duluth were busy Monday afternoon packing and taping boxes as part of the nationwide Operation Christmas Child project.

The volunteers pack up all the gifts that the community brings in. The boxes filled with items are then shipped overseas to children who are less fortunate.

"By collecting them here and then sending them to all of these places around the world, we're basically giving children the chance to enjoy Christmas," said William Belcher, a volunteer.

Community members can still pick up a shoe box at area churches, including Mount of Olives Baptist Church, or they can also bring gifts in a box of their own.

Operation Christmas Child runs until 4:00 next Monday. More information about it, including where to drop off the boxes, and what to include in them is available here.
