Police are looking for a vehicle believed to have been involved in a shooting that injured a juvenile Thursday night on the Fond du Lac Reservation.

The incident happened on Brevator Road at about 9:30 p.m.  According to a news release from the Cloquet Police Department, witnesses said a southbound SUV was hit by something fired from another vehicle, causing two windows to shatter.  Investigators believe the damage was caused by a BB or pellet gun.

Police say the juvenile's injuries, which are not life-threatening, appear to have been caused by glass breakage rather than a gunshot wound.

Offiers from multiple agencies searched the area but did not find anything.

Cloquet Police say it's believed both vehicles were leaving a funeral/wake service at the Brookston Community Center for a teenager who died in Duluth on Monday.  Officers have not established a motive, but officers say they have received information suggesting the incident could be related to the Duluth death.

The suspect vehicle is described as a red or maroon Chevrolet, possibly an Impala, that was last seen headed south on Brevator Road.

Police say they do not believe this was a random act, and they say they do not believe the public is at risk.  They ask anyone with information to call Commander Derek Randall at 218-879-1247 or the Police Department’s tip line by texting the word TIP CLOQUETPD followed by your tip to 888777.

The Fond du Lac Police Department, Carlton and St. Louis County sheriff's offices, Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota DNR, and Cloquet Area Fire District have also been involved in the investigation.
