One Dead After Snowmobile Hit by Truck in Aitkin County

The Minnesota State Patrol says a Twin Cities area man is dead after the snowmobile he was driving was hit by a Truck on Highway 169 in Aitkin County shortly after 5:45 Saturday afternoon.

The patrol says 56-year-old Kyle Jason Hegna of Chaska was trying to cross Highway 169 on his snowmobile when he was hit by a Toyota Tundra that was traveling southbound on Highway 169 in Macville Township.

Hegna was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the patrol says.

The driver of the Toyota Tundra was not injured.

The patrol lists the road conditions as snowy and icy at the time of the crash.

The Aitkin County Sheriff's Office, Hill City Fire, and MedOne EMS assisted the Minnesota State Patrol on scene.
