On Wednesday, a judge sentenced Brian Nelis, 42 to life in prison for killing Shane Cadotte, 39, of Odanah. Nelis is not eligible for early release.

In May, a jury found Nelis guilty of first-degree intentional homicide for his role in the killing.

Cadotte's body was found in September 2017 on Bear Trap Road on the Bad River Reservation.

Michael Sweet, 42, was also found guilty of first-degree intentional homicide for the killing of Cadotte. Court records indicate his sentencing, which was scheduled for Wednesday, has been rescheduled.
