Outages Affect Thousands as Storm Hits Northland

Thousands of Northland homes and businesses lost as a spring snowstorm moved through the Northland.

Minnesota Power reported more than 5,500 customers without power early Thursday evening.  The bulk of those without power were in Duluth's Congdon Park neighborhood.

Elsewhere, Lake Country Power Cooperative reported 1,400 members without power early Thursday evening.  Utilities also reported many other smaller outages scattered across the Northland.

Minnesota Power and Superior Water Light and Power want customers to know that they have recently updated their mobile apps, which can be used to report outages and see outage maps.  The new apps can be downloaded through links at www.mnpower.com/OutageCenter or www.swlp.com/Outage.
