With the new year, came a miracle. A beautiful baby boy, who was the first baby of 2020 in Duluth.

Kate and Dan Jaakola from Cloquet welcomed their bundle of joy Barrett at 6:03 a.m. Wednesday morning at St. Luke's Hospital.

Barrett came in weighing at seven pounds, 13 ounces, and 20.5 inches long.

The couple say Barrett was originally due on Jan. 6 and weren't expecting for him to arrive early.

"We assumed a baby's gonna be born right after midnight but it didn't happen and then we found out he's the first in Duluth. It was shocking and exciting all in one," said Kate.

This is the couple's first baby. They got married in April last year and Kate got pregnant shortly after.

At first, they thought they would be bringing in two bundles of joy instead of one, since twins run in their family.

Kate said everyone in the family is overjoyed with Barrett's special arrival.

Kate and Dan said they are excited to introduce Barrett to their family dog.
