St. Louis County nurses will soon offer literacy tools from the Duluth Public Library to parents of newborns.

The literacy bags will contain board books, a booklet of songs and rhymes, tips from the library about reading to young children and more.

Home nurses will hand out the literacy bags after they are trained by Library staff on July 22. These literacy bags are part of the library’s Every Child Ready Duluth initiative.

According to the Duluth Public Library, Every Child Ready Duluth is focused on helping ensure every child in Duluth is ready for kindergarten.

The first 200 literacy bags have been paid for by the Rotary Club of Duluth, Essentia Health and Duluth Library Foundation.
