The Bluebird Foundation, an organization that raises money for local youth in the arts, hosted a gathering in the Moorish Room at the Greysolon Plaza Wednesday to announce a major event, the New Year’s by the Lake Extravaganza.

The New Year’s event is organized by Lundeen Productions and Twin Ports Entertainment.

The event will take place Dec. 31 at the Greysolon Ballroom, the Moorish Room, the Black Water Lounge, and the Norshor Theatre, which are all accessible via the skywalk system.

A preview of the sparkling and silver decor for the extravaganza was displayed at the announcement.

The event will begin with an elegant four course meal in the Greysolon Ballroom followed by live music by the Maxi Childs Trio. A musical performance titled 'The Legends of Las Vegas starring Todd Eckart' will be held in the Norshor Theatre afterwards.

When the performance ends, the Greysolon Ballroom will be turned into a dance hall with music from the Whiskey Trail Band.

Laura Velvet & the Bookhouse Boys will also be entertaining in the Moorish Room.

The Black Water Lounge will be playing music from DJ Cory Bonneville from Sounds Unlimited.

"To have one place that they can go that's all inside and have that room option was just really appealing to people. Our companies like to do things big so we decided if we were going to do it, it was going to be epic,” Tracy Lundeen, the Bluebird Foundation and Lundeen Productions president, said.

This will be the first big New Year's event in Duluth in 10 years since the St. Mary’s DECC event discontinued their event.

The New Year's celebration will also provide party favors, balloon drops, photo booths, apps, and a champagne toast for attendees.

There are specially priced room packages available at the Sheraton Hotel which is by the Greysolon Plaza.

Tickets go on sale Oct. 1 and there's several ticket packages ranging from $25 to $109.

A portion of the proceeds from the New Year’s event will go to the Bluebird Foundation.
