A new housing opportunity is in the works for Superior residents. P&R Properties Twin Ports is adding 320 North Apartments to their Superior locations. Superior Mayor Jim Paine looks forward to the positive economic impacts of the property on the city, saying, “this is new revenue for the people of Superior, and its new homes for people to come in and invest and live in our community.”

The project broke ground just two weeks ago. They plan to begin moving residents in next July and complete the transition in August. The result will be an apartment complex which will offer 89 luxury units. Property Manager Megan Holsclaw says the units are considered luxury based on their size, amenities, and overall quality.

“They’re large apartments. Our 2 bedroom apartment would be 1,010 square feet. Every apartment but 4 will have balconies. And, of course, we’re right next to Lake Superior, so there will be some apartments with great views of Lake Superior,” Holsclaw said.

Each unit will be equipped with high end cabinetry, granite counter tops, laminate hardwood flooring, and a washer and dryer, according to Holsclaw. She also pointed to a state-of-the-art fitness center, a community space with a full kitchen and patio, a fenced in dog park, and high parking availability as extra features.

With all of these contributing to luxury housing, Mayor Paine stressed the affordability of these units. He doesn't want the term "luxury" to imply expensive. "It's going to feel like luxury, you're just going to be able to afford to live here," Paine said. Economically, he considers 320 North to be a market rate complex. “We’re calling them market rate apartments because they’re pretty affordable for most people making around the medium income of Superior. So, about half of the population, or more, of Superior, would be able to afford to move in here.”

46 one-bedroom apartments will be available starting at $1,075. 36 two-bedrooms will start at $1,600, and four three-bedrooms will start at $19,000. Holsclaw says they expect to fill all units before opening next summer. She explained, "we just broke ground and we have a lot of people really excited, and we have a few spots already taken."
