Chief James Maddern says Nashwauk-Keewatin High School Principal Paul Brainard contacted his department about the possible threat. In a news release, Maddern said that "an investigation has been completed and the situation has been dealt with swiftly by both the school district and [Nashwauk Police]."

Maddern told us over the phone that there was no real threat nor real danger, and that it was more of a miscommunication. More details would not be released because the situation involved juveniles.

Maddern said the police department and school district take every possible threat seriously and urged people talking about the situation on social media to be mindful that this is a sensitive issue regarding juveniles.
