The group contacted the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday to report that the man, a 48-year-old from Washington state, had left his campsite in the Crooked Lake area to go fishing around 5 p.m. Monday and had not returned.

The St. Louis County Rescue Squad and the U.S. Forest Service began a search Tuesday morning.  A Forest Service airplane located the man around 1 p.m.

The man was safe and uninjured.  He was reunited with his party.
