The Pine County Sheriff's Office said 38-year-old Matthew Neshek's family reported him missing around 11 a.m. Thursday. They told authorities he had gone duck hunting near Nature Avenue, south of Hwy 70.

The sheriff's office said deputies met family members at the missing hunter's vehicle Thursday. Crews searched until dark and started looking again Friday morning.

According to the sheriff, his body was found at about 9:30 a.m. "about 50 yards from shore in a pond east of Nature Ave at the very south end of the road from Highway 70."

The Pine City Fire Department, Minnesota DNR, National Park Service, Wisconsin DNR and the Minnesota State Patrol flight team helped search. They also brought in a dog from the NorthStar K-9 Search and Rescue group later.

Neshek was brought to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office. No cause of death has been determined, but no foul play is suspected, authorities said.
