Mike Rothman knows state government. He was the commissioner of the Commerce Department before stepping down last fall to run for the office of attorney general.

He sat down with Eyewitness News on Thursday, and explained why he's the best qualified. "As the commissioner of the Commerce Department, I oversaw 330 employees, and more than 20 industries throughout the state, including banking. And the number one priority was consumer protection."

He would continue making that a priority, and add attention to the opioid crisis and protection for seniors as well.

Rothman added he has been an attorney for 30 years, with plenty of courtroom experience. "I'll be ready to work on national issues that attorneys general weigh in on, too."

There are four other DFL candidates for the position, three Republicans, and one grass roots.
