The Rainbow Family of Living Light, a loose-knit group that meets in a different national forest every summer, plans to hold this year's gathering July 1 through 7 in the Chequamegon-Nicolet National Forest.  Some participants are already on site to prepare for the event, which may draw between 4,000 and 10,000 visitors to the Town of Delta.

The Bayfield County Sheriff’s Office is holding a community meeting about the gathering on Thursday, June 20, at 7 p.m. at the Iron River Community Center, 8275 E Mill Street.

"An event of this size can have significant impacts on traffic, communities, local resources, residents and visitors. Local businesses can expect to see large numbers of Rainbow Family participants visiting stores and buying food and supplies along routes to the gathering site. Forest and county roads in the Delta area as well as other communities are expected to become congested during the event and road closures and/or traffic detours may occur on the National Forest," the USDA Forest Service said in a news release.

The Forest Service is posting updates about the gathering at https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/cnnf/landmanagement/?cid=FSEPRD638008.
