Death of Two Adults in Aitkin County Apparent Murder-Suicide

The Ramsey County Medical Examiner has identified the two people killed in a home southeast of McGregor, and determined a cause of death.

On Tuesday, the medical examiner identified them as Laura Shingobe-Garbow, 62, of McGregor, and Matthew Garbow, 40, also of McGregor.  

The medical examiner says the manner and cause of death for Laura was determined to be "homicide by blunt force trauma injuries to the head" while the cause and manner of death for Matthew was determined to be "suicide by multiple sharp force injuries." 

According to a press release from the Aitkin County Sheriff's Office, two bodies were discovered after deputies responded to a welfare check request to a residence in Spalding Township on Tuesday, November 27.

Deputies had to use force to get into the residence.  

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension is assisting in the investigation

The sheriff’s office does not believe there to be any public threat.
