CHISHOLM - The Mary statue from a nativity scene outside of St. Joseph's Catholic Church has been stolen less than a week after the new nativity scene was first put on display.

Father Anthony Craig says that St. Joseph's Catholic Church filed a stolen report Tuesday morning. He believes the theft happened either Sunday or Monday.

He says they are planning to buy the full set of figurines again to replace the Mary statue as they can't be bought individually.

In hopes of preventing another theft, Father Craig says they may fasten the new figurines to the platform of the nativity scene. There is also now a security camera that can alert Father Craig by phone of any suspicious activity.

Last year a Baby Jesus statue was stolen from the old nativity scene at the church, which prompted the building of the new nativity scene.

You are asked to call the Chisholm Police Department at 218-254-7915 if you have any information about the theft of the Mary statue.
