The event featured free activity tables for kids. They learned about how local organizations are helping the earth and ways the community can help as well. The visitor center celebrates earth day every year.

This year’s theme for the event is about protecting our species.

"Each of our booths is having a little bit about what we can do for the earth because anything we can do will protect the species that are currently in danger,” Denise Wolvin, the director of Lake Superior Maritime Visitor Center, said.

The event also focused on the little things we can do to help and protect the earth like using recyclable bags instead of plastic bags and environmentally friendly and safe ways to explore the earth.
