Over 800 businesses in the Northland were assisted by Northeastern Small Business Development Centers which created and saved over 1,000 jobs.

For example, the Latour team started their sheet metal business and looked to small business centers for help with major decisions.

"Every time we needed any sort of assistance, any big decisions we made with our business, we would come ask for advice and basically get any sort of guidance that we needed before we made those big decisions," Sheet Metal Solutions, President, Becky Latour said.

Those who have interest in starting a small business or are seeking guidance can head to the Center for Economic Development on the second floor of UMD's Tech Village on Superior Street.
