IRONWOOD, Mich. - A 24-year-old was arrested Wednesday in connection with a Sunday afternoon fire at Pine's Cafe.

The Ironwood Public Safety Department reported the woman, who lives in Ironwood, is facing three charges:

  1. First-degree arson
  2. Arson - Preparation to burn a dwelling
  3. Animal Killing/Torturing

Fire Marshal Brandon Snyder investigated, and a press release said Prosecutor Nick Jacobs authorized the charges.

The Public Safety Department reports the woman, who was not named in the release, is being held in the Gogebic County Jail on $100,000 bail. 

Ironwood firefighters responded at 5:35 p.m. Sunday to the fire, where they found flames on the second floor of the Pines Cafe. They put out the fire by 5:55. 

One person was taken to a clinic to be treated for smoke inhalation. 

The Hurley Police and Fire Departments, Beacon Ambulance, Iron County Sheriff's Office, Gogebic County Sheriff's Office, Michigan State Police-Wakefield, and the Red Cross assisted on the scene.
