Fire caused heavy damage to a home in Rockwood Township, near Bemidji, early Wednesday.

The Bemidji Fire Department says in a Facebook post that firefighters found the roof and attic of the home on fire after responding at 1:17 a.m. The Cass Lake Fire Department also responded to the scene, and firefighters were on the scene for about four hours.

The home was not occupied at the time of the fire.

Firefighters say the fire appears to be accidental in nature, but the exact cause has not yet been determined. They estimate damage to the home and its contents to be $109,000.
