UWS Student Athletes Begin Fourth Annual Week of Giving

Created: December 09, 2019 05:48 PM

This week in Superior, UWS athletes are giving back to the community.

This is all a part of their fourth annual Week of Giving. On Monday they wrapped gifts they had purchased from the UWS Giving Tree. The program has student organizations buy children's gifts for faculty or staff needing help providing gifts for their families this holiday season. The UWS Student-Athlete Advisory Committee President Mathea Brink says student athletes look forward to giving back every year.

"This week is all about giving back to our community who widely supports the athletic department and the school," said Mathea Brink.

Thirteen different teams helped wrap gifts. They continue giving back this week by ringing bells for the Salvation Army Tuesday and with their Caroling for Cans food drive in Superior on Thursday.

"Being able to take a week out of our time and give back to them is huge for us and it's something that we look forward to every year," said Brink.
