Authorities say they were called to the 3800 block of 2nd Avenue West for a man being held against his will by another man with a gun.

The woman who called it in told authorities her boyfriend had been asked to help "move items" at a residence. HPD says once he was there, he was brought into the basement and accused of not completing a brake job. They say the other man pointed a handgun at him.

Then, the victim and kidnapper allegedly went outside to the car where his girlfriend was waiting and told her to leave.

According to police, the girlfriend went to a neighbor's and called 911.

Police said the man being held was able to escape and ran down the alley, where he met Hibbing police officers. He allegedly told them there were two black males in the house, one of which had threatened him with a gun.

The 23-year-old and 28-year-old were taken into custody without incident, other than a responding officer cutting his hand on broken glass while responding.

Hibbing Police say there was no threat to the community.
