They received the funding through a grant from the Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Commission. A 6,000 square foot building addition to the existing center will help increase the amount of programs the center can provide.

Hartley's Executive Director Tom O'Rourke says last year's staff provided over 60,000 hours of programming to the community. and this expansion is needed for their programs to keep growing.

"This building has served us incredibly well for fifteen years, but we are out of space," said Tom O'Rourke. "We need more programming space to continue to offer classes and programs for kids especially in this comomunity."

To date, nearly $1.8 million of the $2.5 million dollar project has been secured. They will continue fundraising, and begin construction soon after all the money is in hand.
