District administration was notified of a strong gas smell in a section of the high school at 7:30 a.m. In the interest of safety, all staff and students present at both the high school and middle school were immediately evacuated. The start of the school day was delayed to allow utility crews to find the source of the odor.

Crews identified a cracked seal at a gas meter that was releasing a gas odor near one of the building's air intakes. Crews were able to confirm there was no threat to student safety and the seal was repaired.

School activities have since returned to normal.
