Four men have been charged in relation to alleged human trafficking in St. Louis County.

The Department of Public Safety said several task forces did a one-day operation in which undercover agents chatted with the suspects on several sex advertisement websites.

They were all arrested when they showed up at a meeting location to pay a victim for sex.

Three men from St. Louis County and one man from Douglas County face charges.

  • Melvin Eugene Brown of Duluth is charged with felony solicitation of a minor for prostitution.
  • George Stephan Myers of Embarass is charged with a gross misdemeanor, solicitation of an adult for prostitution.
  • Mitchell Todd Pelkey of Hermantown is charged with felony solicitation of a minor for prostitution.
  • Scott Robert Wermter of Hawthorne is charged with felony solicitation of a minor for prostitution.

The Department of Public Safety said they were all booked into the St. Louis County Jail and later released.

"These people are not looking for relationships, they are preying on victims within our community," St. Louis County Undersheriff Jason Lukovsky said in a press release.

The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension's Human Trafficking Investigators Task Force led the operation with the Tribes United Against Sex Trafficking Task Force and the St. Louis County Sheriff's Office.
