Gov. Tim Walz says flags at Minnesota state and federal buildings will fly at half-staff Monday in honor of paramedic Troy Boettcher.

He and 17-year-old Joey Latimer were killed when the ambulance they were riding in crashed with a dump truck.

Boettcher, 51, worked with the Meds-1 Ambulance Service. He had been in Emergency Medical Services for more than 20 years.

"Troy Boettcher was an outstanding paramedic, who was admired and respected by his colleagues, and served with dignity and pride," Gov. Walz (D-Minn.) said.

He leaves behind a wife and several children and stepchildren.
