The Superior Fire Department says it happened at residence on the 6000 block of Banks Avenue. It was reported around 2:35 a.m.

The first crews on scene saw smoke in the rear of the home. Authorities say they were able to locate the fire and extinguished it after exposing the attic space.

One firefighter suffered a minor injury. The department says all occupants and pets were woken up by a smoke alarm and were able to escape safely. They were not able to return to their home Tuesday morning due to air quality.

Damages are estimated at $20,000.
