Fire Damages Moose Lake Motel

Multiple fire crews rushed to the scene of a fire at the Moose Lake Motel after a report of heavy smoke coming from the roof at the center of motel on Wednesday morning.

On arrival, fire crews found flames coming from a door near the office and heavy smoke from the roof where flames followed shortly after, according to Moose Lake Fire Chief, Jim Michalski.

Barnum,Kettle River, Mahtowa, Carlton, Willow River and Sturgeon Lake Fire Departments all worked to control the fire.

According to authorities, the initial warning came from a motel customer.

No injuries were reported but the motel is considered a total loss.

The incident remains under investigation.
