A 911 caller reported a structure engulfed in flames at 6:20 p.m.  The fire was at 4 County Road 34 (Rollins Creek Road) in Lutsen Township.

Firefighters from the Lutsen, Tofte, Schroeder, and Grand Marais fire departments responded to the scene, along with U.S. Forest Service fire units due to the potential of fire spreading into the surrounding forest.  Firefighters filled water tanks at the emergency hydrant at Lutsen Resort to shuttle water to the fire scene.

The fire was 80 percent contained by 7:11 p.m. and was no longer considered at risk of spreading.

No one was injured, but the cabin and bunkhouse are believed to be a total loss.

The cabin owner said it should not have been occupied at the time of the fire, and power had been turned off.  Como Oil sent a representative to check a propane tank on the property, and the State Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
