According to the school, they were made aware of the posts on Monday morning. According to Chancellor Lendley Black, the posts were inconsistent with UMD's commitment to creating a positive and inclusive place. He added, "UMD stands firmly against white supremacy, bigotry, and violence."

The president of the College Republicans herself posted something on the page, saying she removed the offensive posts. She added, "The UMD College Republicans do not agree with, nor condone the content of this tasteless post. The member that posted this has been removed as an administrator of the page, and announced he has stepped down from his role as Vice President of our group."

The school applauds her actions.

According to the statement from UMD, appropriate follow up on the Facebook posts is occurring among several units in UMD Student Life.
