One person was found deceased after an explosion at a house in Superior over the weekend.
Superior firefighters, police, and crews from Mayo ambulance responded to the report of an explosion.
The fire department reported that when they arrived in the area of Corning Avenue and N 24th Street, they found a home fully engulfed in flames. This was around 11am.
The fire was out as of around 12:30pm, with crews extinguishing hot spots until after 5:30 pm.
The body was located after the fire was extinguished inside the residence.
The name of the decedent is being withheld at this time pending notification of family. An autopsy is scheduled for the deceased.
At this time, the Superior Police Department does not believe this was an intentional act and there is no danger to any other residents of the city.
Battalion Fire Chief Howard Huber said they are asking the public to please stay away from the area. The investigation has since been handed over to the Superior Police Department.
The Superior Police Department has requested assistance from the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco Firearms and Explosives as well as the Wisconsin Division of Criminal Investigation.
