The school districts of Eveleth-Gilbert and Virginia will be consolidating, according to Virginia Minnesota Public Schools.

On its Facebook page, Virginia Minnesota Public Schools said community members voted to consolidate the two districts.

The post said the question unofficially passed by 77.6% in Virginia and 53.3% in Eveleth-Gilbert.

It needed to pass in both districts, to become the Rock Ridge Public Schools.

Many people voted early as well, to avoid going to the polls during the pandemic.

Last spring, voters in both districts signed off on funding for a new joint academy for the high school students and new elementary schools.
