Enbridge is donating $225,000 to several agencies helping people in the wake of Tropical Storm Harvey, which closed the company's Houston office.
The company says it will contribute $100,000 to the United Way Relief Fund, $100,000 to the Red Cross of Greater Houston, and $25,000 to the Red Cross of Coastal Bend, which serves the Corpus Christi area. The company also says it will match up to $2,500 per person in donations made by employees.
Dan Williams, the Executive Director of the American Red Cross Serving Northern Minnesota, said the local Red Cross office worked with Twin Ports Enbridge staff to secure the donation for Texas.
Enbridge's Houston offices remained closed Wednesday as the city continued to deal with flooding caused by Harvey. Its U.S. gas control and offshore operations continue to operate, with only essential staff at offshore operations.
The company said its chief concern remains the safety of its people and its operations.
