Many classic cars and community members gathered on Chapman Street in Ely on Saturday for the Third Annual Jake Forsman Car Show & Burnout Competition.

The event raises funds for scholarships for students that are going into trade schools. It is named after a Jake Forsman who died after a car accident. His father, Al, organized the event and emphasized what the fundraiser is all about.

"We raised awareness for the need for young men and women to enter the trades," said Al Forsman. "Everyone of us hear has a purpose, a calling, a way that we were meant to contribute to society. Everyone should have a career that helps us feel our value through our efforts."

Forsman was very pleased with the turnout and thanked the classic car owners for keeping their cars out this close to winter. The message and the money raised will go to the blue collar workers of the future.
