Fire at a Maintenance Shop at Elbow Lake Lodge

A fire Monday morning kept fire fighters busy at Elbow Lake Lodge near Cook. According to the St. Louis County Sheriff's office, the Cook Fire Department responded to a call at approximately 9:04 a.m. for a fire in the maintenance shop area of Elbow Lake Lodge, in Beatty Township.

Officials say the caller reported smoke coming from the shop and when he opened the door, he was overcome by smoke. The caller shut the door and called 911.

The building housed various maintenance items and implements for the operations of the resort, and suffered severe damage.

The Minnesota State Fire Marshall responded to the scene is investigation the cause of the fire. The Sheriff's office says the fire does not appear to be suspicious in nature.
