"They've been doing the Memorial Day parade in Duluth since 1871. So it's 148 years," Daina Mirsch-Wenner said. "That's amazing, I think."

And now, the Duluth Women of Today, a community service and leadership development group, will continue it into the future.

Mirsch-Wenner said they have several marching bands and veterans groups signed up already, but they would like even more.

"I like that it's a homegrown, family-oriented parade," Mirsch-Wenner said. "So anybody can come and see what's going on in the parade, and anybody can be involved in it if they want to be in it. Their organization can get a little face time on the street."

The parade is at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, May 27 along Grand Avenue in West Duluth.

Floats can sign up until the day of, but you must have your spot registered by May 25 to be announced by the commentator.
