He's been on the job for one year, one month, and one week. "We made it through the year, and that's a testament to many teams," John Magas told the crowd.

Magas was the keynote speaker at the Let's Do Lunch chamber event on Tuesday at Greysolon. St. Luke's was the sponsor.

He told the crowd that they are focusing on a 5 days a week, in-person instruction schedule, likely with masks for everyone.

A new thing, he said, was that all kids grades 3-12 will have their own devices, and there will be additional devices for the younger kids to share. "It doesn't mean distance learning. It's just having them learn what it means to work collaboratively, together," Magas said.

As for what's next, he's learned that you can't always wait to have an agreement during a crisis. "Having a good plan today is worth more than a perfect plan two weeks from now," Magas said.

He also said that the district will be relocating their admin offices to the United HealthCare building for two years, until their new space up at the old Central High School is ready.
