Gorham has held an at large seat on the Duluth school board since January 2018.

Gorham told the Duluth News Tribune that he had become increasingly frustrated with the school board's lack of "accountability and sense of urgency" when it came to improving graduation rates and student test scores.

In a statement from board chair Rosie Loeffler-Kemp, she says the board will hold a special board meeting on September 9th to review the process to fill the vacancy.
