Search Continues for Missing UMD Student

The Duluth Police department continues to investigate the disappearance of 21-year-old Jacob Michael Lavoie. Jacob was last seen leaving Grandmas Sports Garden at approximately 12:08 AM on Sunday, September 1.  Authorities say Jacob, a UMD student, left Grandma's walking in a northerly direction towards downtown.

Duluth police are conducting a search with the assistance of the St. Louis County Rescue Squad and Duluth Fire Department. They say they are not in need of volunteers at this time. 

Jacob Michael Lavoie Missing in Duluth

Residents and business owners are being asked to check their properties. Authorities provided a map of the area they believe Lavoie may have walked through.  Residents should check out buildings, vehicles, stairwells, dumpsters, boats, or anywhere a person could hide. 

Jacob is described as white, 5'10", 150 pounds, with strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a black Nike baseball hat, a red- or salmon-colored long sleeve shirt and jeans. 

In addition to searching your property please also review security systems from the period of 00:00-06:00 on 09/01/2019 for a person matching Jacob’s description.
