Duluth Police: Weekend Shooting was Homicide

The Duluth Police Department has determined that a fatal shooting over the weekend was a homicide.

On Monday, police identified the victim as 33-year-old Timothy Jon Nelson of Duluth.  Officers investigating a report of shots fired found him in a vehicle in the 300 block of North 62nd Avenue West at about 1:47 a.m. Sunday.

The cause of Nelson's death was a gunshot to his abdomen, according to police.

Duluth police have not said whether Nelson lived in the area where he was found, or whether there is any danger to the public.  Police said they cannot share any other information to protect the integrity of their investigation.
