The Duluth Police Department says it has increased patrols after a reported possible abduction attempt in the Lakeside neighborhood on Tuesday.

A family reported that a man wearing a mask asked a child to get into his vehicle, a dark blue Prius.  The incident was reported just before 4 p.m. on the 5200 block of East Avondale Street.

Officers responded to the scene, but the suspect was gone by the time they got there.

Police asked anyone who has more information or who has seen anything suspicious to call 911.

They also ask that residents who notice anything suspicious take note of details like the make, model, and color of a vehicle and unique features such as bumper stickers.  They say reports on suspicious people should include a description of clothing, height, weight, hair color, and unique features like tattoos or birth marks.
