Duluth’s Pier B Resort Hotel was evacuated Friday night due to kitchen fire that spread to the ductwork and roof.

Firefighters were called there just before 5 p.m. When they got there, black smoke was billowing from the roof.

They were there for about an hour and a half, making sure the fire hadn't spread, monitoring the temperature around the ductwork, and putting hotspots out. Crews stayed to remove water from the kitchen and first floor.

The Duluth Fire Department estimates there were $75,000 in damages.

No one was injured and guests returned to their rooms after firefighters gave the all-clear. The Silos Restaurant will be closed until further notice.

Neighboring Bentleyville in Bayfront Festival Park appeared to go on without interruption.
