Library Donors Honored at the Depot

The Duluth Library Foundation hosted their 4th annual Olga Walker Memorial Awards at the Depot on Wednesday morning.

They recognized six people, whose generous support has made a significant difference at the library.

Karen and Royal Alworth were two of the recipients. Royal explained that the library serves him, his family, and the community in a variety of ways, helping him expand his horizons. "Even when I learn something I don't agree with," he added.

The other winners include: Muriel Cowan, Beverly and Louise Ellstrom, and Esther Linden.

The award is named after Olga Walker. She was a generous lady who designated the Duluth Public Library as the sole beneficiary of her will. Her gift became the seed money for the Duluth Library Foundation endowment.
