Updated: May 25, 2019 09:17 PM

'Bag it, Duluth' was giving away free handmade, reusable bags Saturday.

The "Memorial Day Give Away" is part of the group's ongoing effort to minimize the use of plastic bags in Duluth. They were hoping to give away around 400 bags.

"I just see plastic bags everywhwre on everything and I support this movement," Duluth resident David Bennett said. "I think it's a good idea."

The bags were sewn by citizens at their 'Bagathon' event back in April. According to the group, citizens of Duluth use around 38 million single use carry out bags per year.
