According to a Facebook post from the school, the student made threats against the school and left the school property. Duluth Police say the 15-year-old teenage boy was overheard making a threat to shoot up the school and a specific staff member.

Duluth Police School Resource Officers investigated the incident and "quickly located" the student.

The post also says Duluth East took precautionary measures to ensure safety as the investigation took place. The school was not placed on a lockdown.

"Given the threatening nature of the statements and the disruption it caused our schools, the student will face disciplinary consequences and potential criminal charges," the post said.

The student is being lodged at the Arrowhead Juvenile Center on charges of Threats of Violence. A search of the student's residence was conducted and no weapons were found, Duluth Police say.

Authorities also say there is no further threat to East High School. It was determined the student was acting alone.
