DULUTH - Duluth School District officials say that a Duluth East High School student was physically assaulted last Monday on a street near Duluth East High School.

A video being shared shows the assailant chasing down the victim, and repeatedly punching and kicking the victim.

Duluth School District officials say they are aware of the video, and became aware of the incident as it was happening. The district says they responded to the location immediately.

Superintendent Bill Gronseth says that both the assailant and the victim were students at Duluth East High School.

Gronseth says that the district is working with the Duluth Police Department, and that, "appropriate actions are being taken."

District officials say that there is a process the school and district follow for an incident like this.

"Our policies and procedures indicate that aggressors are suspended while an incident is investigated and further disciplinary actions are determined," the district wrote in a statement.

Duluth Police say they are aware of the assault.

This is a developing story, and WDIO will update with any new information.
