Duluth Duplex Sustains Estimated $30,000 of Damage in Fire

The Duluth Fire Department says a two-story duplex sustained about $30,000 of damage during a fire on Saturday morning.

The fire department says they responded to the fire located at 214 N. 28th Ave. W. around 6:40 to find the a "working fire at the rear of a two-story duplex." 

The fire department says one of the occupants was trapped inside and removed through a second floor window. The removed occupant was evaluated by Mayo Clinic Ambulance and declined transport, according to the fire department. 

None of the tenants were able to remain in their units due to smoke damage. There were no fire department injuries, according to the fire department.

Two unharmed cats were also located. One was removed and the other was sheltered in place, according to the fire department.

The Duluth Fire Marshal's office is currently investigating the cause and origin of the fire.

Fire companies from Headquarters Station, Lincoln Park,and Spirit Valley Station responded and remained on scene for 1.5 hours. Duluth Police and Mayo Ambulance were on scene to assist.
