Three Duluth Construction Projects Beginning Monday

There are a couple construction projects beginning Monday in Duluth. Phase II of the Lakewalk reconstruction, construction on Harbor Drive, and restoring the Lester Bridge will all be getting underway.

Phase II of Lakewalk Reconstruction 

  • This phase will involve replacing the boardwalk and asphalt from Fitger's to the Veterans Memorial.
  • Detour signs will be posted.
  • The Lakewalk will be open to the public in August when the project is completed.

Harbor Drive Construction

  • Work will include a storm pipe replacement, and paving. 
  • For the next week, traffic will be closed between Railroad Street and Vista Fleet Offices on Harbor Drive. 
  • Construction will wrap up in August, so regular closures can be expected.
  • Foot traffic will still be open.

Lester Bridge Restoration

  • Crews will be restoring a bridge over the Lester River and installing a new curb and sidewalk in the area.
  • A block of Superior Street in the Lester Park neighborhood closing Monday.
  • A temporary traffic signal will be at London Road and 60th Avenue East.
  • Traffic will be detoured on London Road.  
  • $1.9 million project on Superior Street is expected to wrap up in September, just in time for the Northshore Inline Marathon.
